Sometimes photos tell the story best. One glimpse at a gal and mama-to-be as stunning as Lori (and her gorgeous family) tells you my job was simple. She is a fabulous portrait and wedding photographer based in Newport News–and there is nothing more affirming that being asked by a fellow photographer to take their portraits. I was thrilled to oblige. She is radiant inside and out — I wish we lived closer so we could hang out regularly. So thank you sweet mama, for driving to my side of the water for your session and for humoring me despite the crazy mosquitos that bombarded us. You are absolutely stunning…I hope you are as in love with these images as I am.

When I look at this family, I get a glimpse of what mine could like in a few years. As much as I love families with itty-bitties, there is something special about capturing older children. They are coming into their own. Their family relationships are much more defined. They sit still! There are so many things I admire about this sweet foursome in particular– they are at ease with each other, loving and close. They are a special bunch that truly values the moments they have together. It’s not easy to tackle a family in a mini session — but these 20 minutes were magical. I’m so grateful we were finally able to connect. Their beauty (inside and out) just shines through.

Photos of Anna always make me gasp — she is absolutely striking beyond her years. And, Will — well there will be hearts breaking all over the world someday with eyes like that. This beautiful family is expecting a new addition soon and I cannot wait to capture the whole family. A short mini session just wasn’t enough time with them. They are loveable, warm and likeable — the kind of family I want to have dinner with while our kids romp around in the backyard together. We may just have to make that happen…Until then, have a look.

And today — a little more grown up with baby number four on the way. They are an amazing bunch and I am lucky to count Camille as a friend. Her many talents are only rivaled by her generous heart. Thank you for allowing me to photograph your beautiful family over and over again. Isn’t it sweet how Ali always holds on to her baby brother’s toes? I didn’t notice until I posted the family shots side-by-side.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of being a photographer is developing relationships with the families I photograph. I first met Chaya when she was in her sweet mommy’s belly and had the honor of capturing her as a newborn. She came to my mini sessions to capture some photos for her daddy. What a difference a year makes!

And one year later (as a busy one-year-old). She keeps her mama on her toes. But look at that hair! That smile! And those eyes…her family is dearly blessed–and so am I for playing a small part in documenting her life. I think daddy is going to love these
