Dear Photograph

We’ve been on vacation visiting our family in Knoxville, Tennessee this week. Making memories. Swimming in the lake until the sun goes down. Eating popsicles on the porch. Playing cards. Living slow…and unplugged. I treasure these times away with my family, and the time my children spend with their grandparents. All of these photos were taken with my iPhone (my camera never made it out of the bag until yesterday for a few group snaps). But, the best camera is truly “the one you have with you” — and this week megapixels didn’t matter; immediacy and being in the moment did.

I also discovered Dear Photograph this week, a blog that encourages readers to “take a picture of a picture from the past in the present.” These images spoke softly and sweetly to me. I see this week in its pages. The memories we made, that we’ll carry with us, and return to again and again.

Dear Photograph: These snapshots aren’t fancy. But they’re important. More important than the kind you pay for.
