First, you must know that I'm a lover of words and stories at heart. These days, I prefer to use a camera to share them.

My hope:

Is that my sessions are filled with lucky shots that are no accident;
That I am not merely an observer, but a narrator;
and a craftsman that is masterful at fostering conditions that allow for real moments to unfold.

Anyone with an eye for composition and light can document life as it happens. I firmly believe it takes something more to dig beneath the surface--to evolve into a photographer who is more than a picture taker, but a picture maker.

There is a moment of extraordinary that can be extracted from every 10 minutes of ordinary. Capturing it is not about point of view, equipment or framing. Instead, it stems from connection: connection to who the photographer is as an artist, and most importantly, connection to the people being photographed.

What does love look like? Exhilaration? Exasperation? How did she gently twist your hair around her fingers when she was three? And, what did it feel like the day you first held his tiny hands in yours?

baby landon arrived on my doorstep last week – snugly, sleepy and with some of the blondest baby lashes i’ve ever seen. as soon as i saw his chubalicious baby cheeks and amazing newborn hair, i knew i was in for a treat. at four weeks, he was a senior citizen compared to the majority of newborns i shoot — but he was gracious and played along just as well as most one-weekers. his mama and daddy are still on a blurry-eyed baby high — they love and adore this little man to pieces. like me, they are a military family — and daddy had to go to sea for nearly a month just a few days after landon was born. i’m so grateful for families like this — who make sacrifices many can only imagine. there’s no doubt in my mind that landon is loved as much as a baby can be–and that his amazing mom and dad cherish every second they are together with him. thank you kara and shane for your patience during our shoot and for entrusting me to capture these precious and fleeting moments of your darling little boy. enjoy this preview — there is more to come!
